The Importance of the Obstacle Course Project

The ability to negotiate the Obstacle Courses which are appropriate to the unit’s tasks, as well as the ability to perform the most common tasks during live operations are considered to be among the most important goals related to the battle field physical readiness which:

  1. Increases the engagement readiness through enhancing the emotional stability during encountering the high level of noise resulting from the explosions and firing training equipment that simulates those which the fighter will encounter in live operations.
  2. Prepares the fighter to deal with live operations at highest level of competency.
  3. Enhances the fighter’s confidence, readiness and increases his emotional stability under live operations stress.
  4. The General Obstacle Course is an effective training tool.
  5. The Obstacle Course can be used as an effective testing tool through evaluating the battle field readiness of all the Battalions unlike the current physical testing system which focuses on the fighter’s physical fitness rather than the battlefield readiness and competence.
  6. The Obstacle Course will also enhance the competitive and fighting spirit at battalion level through individual and team contests between the Units.

General Obstacle Course Characteristics

  1. Accommodates large numbers of trainees
  2. Designed in a way to achieve the tasks of the general Units.
  3. Building an Obstacle Course is considered to be a strategic decision since the infrastructure can accommodate large numbers in all units, the biggest contributor in increasing the battlefield physical readiness in a short period of time in comparison to conventional training methodology.
  4. Being prepared and getting ready never goes in vain. When having to stop training entirely for a temporary period of time, the human body has the ability to retain 70% of the maximum level of physical ability previously achieved as long as the trainee does not have any injury or chronic disease.
  5. Compatible with the international standards in terms of:
    • Measurements
    • Tasks
    • Construction
    • Health and Safety factors
  6. Can integrate the battlefield simulations (sound and visual effects) in an effective and safe manner.
